The Last Stand

A very Happy New year everybody!!

Boys and girls this article is not for the faint of heart! You have been warned! Read on at your own risk!

This story is once again about our "Hero" Mr. Bram Steller. Our favorite colleague here at TMA. This time he has really hit the JACKPOT! I am sure everybody is aware of the immense success of the new ATR now engaged in domestic operations to Gan Island. Competition again for Island Aviation (maybe nothing new to them). Without doubt the domestic operation on wheels is something new for TMA. So lets quickly go through the resources at our "Hero's" hands for this bold new step by TMA:

1. Mr. Latheef: With him around who needs a windsock? All his experience in the aviation industry can be summed into two words. "License Plate"
2. Mr. Ranjit: TMA must be the only multi million dollar company without a Chartered Accountant in finance department. Let's see if he can calculate the how much damage him and Bram are doing to this company.
3. Flight Operations Manager: Or is it "Probation Manager"? Since Capt. Muja joined TMA he seems to bound with that word!
4. Chief Pilot: Well, atleast now Fahud will not be the one who grounds airplanes the most. Cos he won't be flying as much! Thank god, what a relief for the engineers!!
5. Chief Engineer: Mr. Thomas why does your vocabulary reduce to only one word in front of Bram? and why does that word always have to be "YES!"???
5. Mauro "Mental" Ambrosini: Lets hope some of his "mental" disease passes on to Bram.

Enough about Bram's invincible army. It's time now to look at the ATR aircraft TMA so proudly illuminates with its bright yellow and blue colors.

8Q-ATM
This aircraft is 17 years old and belongs to the ATR42-320 family. From its famous inauguration "non-flight" to its engine failure within the same month, this aircraft has been showing its "true colors" since its first landing at MAle' International airport. However, as usual Bram has been doing what he does best; covering it all up with his usual words of deceit! But what is he going to do about the poor air conditioning of this aircraft? He is only full of "Hot Air" so he can't be any help there! And what about the primitive speed compared to the Dash-8? Is he going to introduce logging flying hours for passengers as well? Join the "TMA Hours Club" not the "Miles Club".

096
096 is the serial number (you guessed it right, Latheef's number plate) of the next aircraft that is being painted TMA colors in Hawker Pacific Hanger in Australia. But before it gets painted with the bright yellow and blue; some "minor repairs" as Bram puts it, needs to be done. For an aircraft that first flew in 1988 (20 years old) and was last used by an airline in Indonesia which is famous for less than poor safety records; "minor repairs" sounds a bit under maintenance don't you think? There were even rumors about the engineers in Australia finding a dead chicken inside its landing gear bay. When I say dead chicken I'm not talking about the tiny little chickens you find in the Maldives. These chickens are the size of a 2 year old kid in Male'!!
To sum up the; this airplane is costing the company more to repair it than the original price of a brand new airplane!
A few minutes of research on the internet will allow you to find out that this aircraft didn't fly much in Indonesia (at least thats what you will find) because in March 2007, the Indonesian Transport Ministry announced ratings of Indonesian airlines with some in the category of "holding potential for threatening safety of aviation". One of these was Dirgantara Air Service, the former owner of MSN096.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dirgantara_Air_Service

"PT Dirgantara Air Service, which is in the bottom category, had three of its jetliners grounded by the ministry because of poor safety compliance."
http://www.thejakartapost.com/detailweekly.asp?fileid=20070323.@02

Many amongst us believe that this aircraft will be the beginning of the end for TMA.

Well, I know for that most of us at TMA would like to believe that this is beginning of the end for Mr. Karl Bram Steller, and yet we will all be proven wrong again! Hint: SJ30 jet!

Thank you.

The MAURO Fever!

Oh my GOD!! I have made a mistake in the title! It should read CAPTAIN Mauro!! To everyone who is puzzled that is his birth name. God gave Mauro his Captaincy at birth. He is neither Mr. or Mrs. Just CAPTAIN Mauro.

We have all heard the saying that "no single employee is bigger than the company". But CAPTAIN Mauro has proved it wrong. Since his employment he has managed to manipulate, twist and mould TMA like a voodoo doll. Within 6 months he has been able to raise his salary twice. It's a no brainer how easily he can slip past Bram's grip. "I am leaving!", "I will resign" and his favourite "I am the Captain" are just a few of his tools at his disposal to get a salary raise.

The "almighty Bram" seems to give in to all his twisted requests and demands. It maybe that they are "working together for the same goal"? Otherwise it is very difficult to understand why Bram doesn't give an extra cent let alone the best apartment, FOM's office and transport within the airport in VIP vehicles to any other employee of the company. The benefits mentioned are just a few of CAPTAIN Mauro's sweet life in the Maldives.

It is so nice to know that CAPTAIN Mauro can also say anything he likes, anytime he likes, to anyone he he DOESN'T like! The coolest thing about it is that no one is there to stop him. What a life!! His words are written in stone and his actions are unchallengeable.

Something else he brags about is "..in my country". Can somebody please remind him that THIS IS NOT HIS COUNTRY! And that we are not his slaves! Is it really this company's policy to let one person do whatever he wants? This is why the question repeats "Are Mauro and Bram working together for the same goal?"

The Latter Letter

31 October 2007

Flight Operations Administrator
Trans Maldivian Airways Pvt Ltd
Male International Airport
PO Box 2079
Republic of Maldives

Dear Zambe,
It is with some regret that I am forced to write this letter. I formally and without reservation submit my resignation to you effective immediately. Please accept my sincere apology if my absence inconveniences your role in any way as this is far from my intention. Yourself, Fahaud and Ishan have always been a pleasure to deal with and my departure is in no way a reflection of you or the flight ops department.
Throughout my whole working life, I have always been a loyal and hard working employee. It saddens me that I am now tarnishing my hard earned employment record. But in my defence I would like to say initially that it is extremely difficult to demonstrate loyalty when the same is not even offered in return from the company for which you are employed.
“Death by one thousand cuts...” When I first heard this expression from a former senior captain in relation to being employed by TMA, I was unsure of its relevance. I now know why this expression is used so frequently and how true a statement it actually is.
Unfortunately I suffered the deepest cut from TMA management before I even commenced employment with the company. Once my application for employment had been approved in late April 2007, I was informed by the company Human Resources Manager that I would need to leave Australia in fourteen days. So therefore in preparation for this departure I ceased employment at my than current employer, attended to some domestic issues than awaited information from TMA regarding my actual confirmed flight details. As you know I arrived in Male on the 1st of July, which suffered me two months of unemployment, with a bare minimum of correspondence from the HR Manager advising me of limited and false reasoning and estimation of the delay! Essentially this equated to a personal financial loss to me in excess of AUD$6000 in lost salary and a depleted savings account which I needed to sustain me for this two month period. What a way to start!!! So as you can imagine, this left an extremely bitter taste in my mouth from the onset. Having said that, when I did eventually arrive here, I attempted to keep an open mind and not let it affect my employment at TMA. To my dismay, the death by one thousand cuts continued... Below is just a short list of events.
Time taken to reimburse my initial airfare
After submitting my expense form, when asking Alfie when the funds will transfer into my account, he for two weeks continually lied to me by repeatedly saying that the funds would be transferred tonight. All of this while looking me in directly in the eye!
Expatriate Airfares
For the sake of saving US$77, my flight back from Australia returning from leave had me in transit for 31 hours!!! Sydney, Brisbane, Kuala Lumper, Singapore, Columbo and Male. This trip should normally only take about 14 hours.
Accommodation
Not allowing two friends that have known each other for years to live in the same apartment together
Moving fulltime pilots to different apartments if they are away on leave.
Having a shower that runs hot water for more than two minutes!
Tango Mike Alpha incident at Coco Palm
When flying with Captain Rod Cooper, as you know we suffered an EFATO at Coco Palm fully loaded with passengers. Neither of us expected or wanted any accolades after this occurred, but a simple “pat on the back” or a “well done for saving the aircraft and the passengers”, given by our esteemed leader Bram Steller would have been reward enough. This was obviously too difficult. There was never any mentioned of that incident again!
Salary
The pay scale for DHC-6 First Officers is a joke! You know what I mean.
US Dollar weaker against the stronger Canadian and Australian Dollars
As I mentioned above, this is a brief outline of the Death by one thousand cuts philosophy that TMA management has adopted and embraced. If an employee goes above and beyond their call of duty, there is no recognition whatsoever, but the first time that employee is involved in the slightest error the vultures are quick to act! The fact is, expatriate pilot morale is extremely low at present. If Mr Steller and his colleagues could only fathom the idea that implementing simple basic niceties would lift expatriate employee morale infinitely, and therefore increase productivity. If employee conditions were improved, employee morale would improve; therefore employee loyalty would amplify exponentially. Employee loyalty would therefore reduce the extremely high turnover in staff and obviously significantly reduce training costs. These are basic management principles!
As we say in Australia, “...Unfortunately, I maybe kicking a dead horse.”
There is an abundance of talent and experience in TMA’s pilot ranks, both expatriate and Maldivian, but I fear that if things continue as they are, like me, more pilots will be looking for greener pastures.
In closing I would like to mention the fact that I have had the pleasure of making some very dear and valued friends (Expat and Maldivian) in my time here, and it saddens me deeply that I will not be able to say goodbye to them properly as they are unaware of my decision to leave the Maldives. They will receive a copy of this letter as you have. My rationale for not informing my friends was to not place them in an unwillingly treacherous position toward TMA. With their support, they helped make appear an unsatisfactory experience seem bearable.
I fully expect that I will be forgotten in a short time, although my hope is that a departure such as this may open TMA’s eyes. As I conclude this letter I can’t help but look at the top of today’s Mayfly,
“Trans Maldivian. We care...” Well Mr Steller, how about you practice what you preach!
Sincerely and respectfully yours,
George Kable

Fresh Wings

A very warm welcome to Muja and Faiz! Welcome to TMA.

TMA, where you will find written rules.
TMA, where you will follow these rules.
TMA, where new rules are made everyday.
TMA, where you will follow the new rules even if you were not aware of them.
TMA, where there are unwritten rules.
TMA, where you adjust your life is dictated under these written and unwritten rules.
TMA, where rules rule.
TMA, where rules are made by the ONE ruler.
TMA, where rules are not made up to ensure justice, but to ensure you are punished.
TMA, where rules don't mean anything if the ruler deems fit.
TMA, where if they don't find anything wrong, you are in trouble.
TMA, where if you make a mistake you are expected to fail the same way repeatedly.
TMA, where they will ensure their equipment remain intact, although they don't mind your life being ruined.
TMA, where in case of doubt about your mistakes, they will make it sounds convincing.
TMA, where the only thing that records your data is your personal file containing all your "hickups", this file also helps keep track of your working days.
TMA, where you are expected to write a report "well in advance", before the incident happens.
TMA, where teamwork is absolutely essential, it allows you to blame someone else.
TMA, where you will always be labelled a complete failure no matter how hard you work, atleast you will be served as a negative example.
TMA, where middle managers don't say a word till the meeting is over; then only are they stamped as being "wise".
TMA, where managers are as vague as possible, this prevents irritating others.
TMA, where everyone loves a deadline, eespecially when they make the "whooshing" sound as they pass by.
TMA, where you tell what you need, and they tell you how to get along without it.
TMA, where you are always labelled to have an "attitude" problem, but they never have a perception problem.
TMA, where you work on a keyboard without an "escape" key.
TMA, where a pat on the back is only a few centimetres from a kick in the butt.
TMA, where you should never be irreplaceable, if you can't be replaced you will never get promoted.
TMA, where after any salary raise, you will have less money at the end of the month than you did before.
TMA, where when bosses talk about improving productivity, they are never talking about themselves.
TMA, where if at first you don't succeed, try again. Then quit. No use being a damn fool about it.
TMA, where to err is human, to forgive is not our policy.
TMA, where if it wasn't for the last minute, nothing would get done.
TMA, where the last person that quit or was fired will be held responsible for everything that goes wrong.

congratulations

Would like to congratulate Mr Bram steller and all TMA team for receiving the AOC for the ATR.
Hope the operation becomes a very successful and profitable for the company but until then the management should realize they should have the seaplanes running without any hick ups and personally i don't think the management is paying too much attention these days as they are too busy with the ATR.

Ranjit please start paying the money you took from the pilots when they got sick, there is no reason for you in the first place to do that since they all had there medical certificates , maybe TMA is not operated in the Maldives since what you are doing in illegal according to the labor law or maybe you like all the pilots demand and go back to the monthly salary .

Bram we no you are busy working hard to start the ATR ASAP but please solve this medical problem before this becomes bad as everybody is very unhappy.TMA is your greatest success as you are waiting restlessly to start A whole new operation we are also waiting for that day......................... please solve the problem before that.

HAPPY LANDING

ZAAthee

It is true that everything is personal. You start your life as a baby and you prefer some shiny toy when another baby might prefer the noisy one.

The now so famous "blue and yellow" ATR has brought out the "preferences" in the Maldivian pilots like never before. Is it because TMA pays more? Or is it because IAS guys are so frustrated with the situation they were in few months back? Maybe the twin otter flying is becoming too boring for some senior Maldivian pilots? The bags just keep getting heavier don't they? Everybody will have their own reasons.

One thing is for sure though: The ATR will be operated by TMA and TMA will be managed by the same management.

The Same Management Who:

1. Is refusing the pilots their medical pay. Any days applied as sick leave is not being paid for. The genius behind this concept is CFO Ranjit who is so shit scared of the Tamil Tigers back home he has a standing order of $1500 from his account to some account in UK named under V. Prabakaran
The pilots are ofcourse are keeping silent on this matter yet because they have been assured by Ishan he will try his best to reform this policy which he himself and many others believe is against the Maldivian Employment Regulation published in http://www.employment.gov.mv/Resources/Employment_Regulation.pdf
Two of the pilots were docked more than 2 weeks pay because they couldn't report to work as they were unfortunately infected with chicken pox.
Msg. to Ishan: This cannot go on for long... Remember how you reacted when the management tried to discriminate you and other Maldivians on 5 and 1? We, the pilots are planning a similar "action" on a pre-concluded date.

2. HAVE FAILED TO LIFT THE ATR OF ITS WHEELS FOR MORE THAN 2 MONTHS RUNNING.
Anybody who has read more than 2 articles on this blog must know by now that Bram is just a dictator and he doesn't care much for his management team's views or suggestions. Unless ofcourse these views and suggestions are similar to his own.
Bram was well informed about the requirements for the AOC and yet he went against his management and brought the airplane to Male' in a rush just to please the board of directors. What did his management team do? Just kept quiet.
I think keeping quiet is the best thing they do when it comes to Bram.

3. DOESN'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT AVIATION.
Lets start with the MD, Bram Steller, a commercially driven, highly marketing man who keeps a thick blanket over the real picture beneath. The first thing that he did when he joined TMA was to paint the bodies of the old, rusty twin otters with flashy yellow colors to attract the tourists. Who knew that absolutely nothing was done "underneath" and the planes are in the same condition or worse after more than 3 years of the dictator's reign.

History: Year 2000 BRAM STELLER director for sales, marketing and service delivery at Kenya Airways.
Year 2004 Mr Bram Steller, Executive Vice-President (Commercial), JetAirways
Bram Steller was also Vice President (Commercial) KLM Royal Dutch Airlines.

Did you notice the word "commercial" or "marketing" in his title? Why in god's name is a a person with such "commercial" background filling the position of Managing Director of an airline with such a unique operation?

I guess now you won't be so surprised if he asks "..why do the pilots land the airplanes on one float on windy days?"

Director Marketing and Sales, Ahemd Latheef. "Serial Number Plate". Do I need to say more?

Chief Finance Officer, Ranjit Kumar. Not his favourite but still one of Bram's puppets. He was just an accountant when first joined TMA and now he is the CFO in a short time. Poor guy doesn't know anything about management and he is incharge of HR. He is screwing up so much because he just doesn't know anything but accounts. For him employee's medical leave has to be a "simultaneous equation" or a "balanced audit sheet". The guy can think only in numbers.

Flight Operations Manager, Mohamed Mansoor. Paid less than his subordinates and yet follows MD's every instruction to the last word. "Keeping his mouth shut" is what he does best when it comes to any situation. Some of the IAS guys thinks Mansoor can deliver what he is promising them to fly the ATR. Good luck guys! By the way, I hope you know who the favourite puppet is?

Safety Manager, Ibrahim Khalid. Perhaps the man with most potential on Bram's management team. If only he would get of his butt and do his job once in a while!! Has anybody ever seen him get onto an aircraft unless he is actually going on a trip? Has he actually talked to any of the pilots (except Ishan) unless the cause is for investigating and incident? I think we have the most passive safety manager of all time. The only time he is seen working hard is when a cabin attendant accidentally drops a bag in the water.

And finally, our boss, Deputy Chief Pilot, Hussain Ishan. Chief Pilot? Acting Chief Pilot? Training Captain? DCP? Line Captain? Line indoc Captain? Dude, how many jobs do you have? No wonder people say you try to show that you are "Mr. Nice Guy". Anyway we all know that you are just filling that seat(s) so that you can get an easy ticket onto the ATR. Hope this article doesn't ruin it for you.

I better stop writing or else nobody is going to read because this is getting wat too looong!

So remember, Everything IS Personal!!

The Last Option

Hey gang! Sorry for letting you down by not updating for a while. Here we go...

This afternoon was a happy afternoon for all of us. The weather was good, all the flights were on time, there were no aircraft hiccups(no! Fahud was flying!), Razee was having lunch at Riyaa cafe...

RAZEEE????
YES!!
MAHMOOD RAZEE???
YESSS!!
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR GENERAL OF CIVIL AVIATION?
YESSSSS!!

Not only him. He was joined most of his deputies and other high ranking officials of CAD. They were having lunch/meeting with Bram and his regular crony Latheef, favourite puppet Mansoor and some middle managers.

It seems Bram has run out of options and chose to go the "easy route". Well bribe is not such a bad thing as it is a normal practice in this pat of he world as Mr. Latheef puts it. I guess what Mr. Latheef doesn't realize is "safety is not expensive, but an accident is." Brothers and sisters, this is exactly what happens when airlines and the Authorities join forces and "cut corners". Maybe Mr. Razee doesn't watch the immensely successful show on National Geographic. Aircrash Investigations. Three out of every five episodes conclude that the main causal factors were because of airline negligence towards regulations. I forgot!! It's the airlines who write the regulations in this part of the world right Mr. Latheef?

We would be very happy to see the blue and yellow plane soar the skies soon. But how soon and at what cost and consequence? I do not believe RUSHING to a deadline should be TMA's goal in this case. Haven't we learnt any lesson from what happened to the Bell 212 helicopter that MAT started flying in a blink of an eye?

Visit

http://www.ntsb.gov/ntsb/brief.asp?ev_id=20001212X20254&key=1

I would hate to see Mr. Razee's name under another accident investigation report.

Anyways, always remember boys and girls, that it's not the airplanes that get older. Its the serial number plate.

Open letter to Mr Latheef( OPS & Marketing Director TMA)

I am very dissapointed that we lost our Hakuraa contract and soon be followed by Velidhu and also Vilureef and Velavaru. I am just wondering if this was fate or it is one of your hideous disguises to blame Mr Bram since you have been dying for his job for so long..

Well Latheef come to think of it we all know who you are. Wasnt it you who was fired from dhiraagu because you couldnt market the place when dhiraagu was the sole telecom operator..And then you joined MAT but didnt last their for long why? Well according to yourself you wanted to work in a 100% maldivian owned company but when you joined TMA we were partly owned by maldivians..

We all know you were offered the job under the disguise of marketing manager but actually you were working as a spy for champaa afeef. And your first mission was to send Mr Naeem off as he was the biggest threat so that been done you have been ranked as a director now..But I think its much worse now since we used to get MAT contracts when u were rather a manager..

So what has gone wrong Latheef? Do you really think that you can become the next tma managing director? I doubt it after all this company is very soon going to be owned and run by Gasim..and since Gasim doesnt want spies like you he will definitely find some one much better than u, you better start hunting for a job now...You must be pissing in your pants now realising this but I doubt anyone will have sympathy towards you as you are some one who steps on your fellow buddy to get what you want..

PS: Stop wasting your time at resorts with tma girls and study a bit about Airlines,Aircrafts before you give public interviews.

Caution...Turbulence ahead

Caution.... Turbulence ahead

My crystal ball predicts a very rough and turbulent time ahead for the 3 domestic Airlines in the Maldives.
Firstly TMA's very own existence is in doubt within  the next year(2008). If you want to know why
continue reading... Looks like the war between our shareholders for majority has begun.
My predictions are TMA is going for a split between Hon. Burumaa Gasim  and  Mr.Champaa Afeef.
Since  it is going to happen Champaa Afeef is going to buy a major share  from Maldivian Air Taxi as sources
indicate  Mr Lars is going to sell his share and leave Maldives for good. And the funny thing is Mr Shiyam
from Suntravels also wants a piece from the cake. As for IAS is going to be up for public share company
and MD Bandhu has already confirmed he wants throw his towel and retire.
More predictions ahead...

TMA WAKEUP!!!!!!

I have seen ishan doing life raft training for the new ATR girls and there were the mangers staring from upstairs very tempted to jump into the water and teach the girls something....just kidding . I really hope ishan knows what he is doing training ATR cabin crews with a twinotto life rafts which has a capacity for 9 pax. last time i checked ATR carries more than 40 passengers which means the life rafts onboard will be bigger heavier with more emergency equipment inside the life raft. I believe the new cabin crews should be trained with the types of life raft onboard ATR and they should also be shown how to use the emergency equipment inside the life raft.On the other hand ishan might be doing this because TMA must have acquired approval from the ever helpful DCA to carry a 9 pax life raft to get some more payload. I suggest TMA to try and get the same deal for the ATR as for the twinotto remove the life rafts and give a mobile phone that would be even better payload wise. WHATEVER YOU DO REMEMBER ABOUT TITANIC.

For everyone who loves this company specially the managers CHALLENGE Mr. Bram Stellers regime . As we all no he has a big ego and to achieve his goals he will threaten people and try to take all kinds of short cuts which would result in our beloved company going into history books with a fetal incidence due to lack of training given to flight and cabin crews , engineers , dispatchers etc......... THIS NONE OF US WANT.

thank you

HAIL CAD!!

Being proven wrong, sometimes is a good thing. And this time it turns out to be a very good thing!

In an earlier post about the Maldivian Civil Aviation Department there was certainly a lot of truth. About the liferaft and other regulations which have been so easily "moderated" for the benefit of the operators regardless of safety concerns. There is no denying this. But now, dear readers, we are getting news of a totally different attitude from CAD.

The recently acquired blue and yellow ATR 42 by Trans Maldivian Airways is not getting airborne because of "short comings" sighted by CAD. Yes! Now you are doing your job!! Apparantly Mr. Bram Steller, who by the way has again proven he does not know anything at all about aviation, thought that he could get the ATR off its wheels without completing all required documentation, maintanence facility requirements and flight operations documentation. What he had in mind was that once the aircraft is in Male', CAD would fall into pressure and let the operation commence without proper facilities and documentation required for the Air Operators Certificate variation.

Mr. Steller thought he could puppeteer ex-CAD officials like Mr. Immak to use his influence to get the AOC "under the table". Now he must realize not everybody is a "Mansoor".

This will be a real turning point in Maldivian aviation if CAD is able to hold its ground. No doubt this will be a difficult task for CAD because for sure Mr. Steller will use all his resources; namely Mr. Gasim (now Speaker of the Special Majlis) and Mr. Afeef (Chariman of MTDC) to pressure Mr. Mahmood Razee.

Our sincere request to Mr. Gasim and Mr. Afeef NOT to interfere with the AOC variation process; this will prove to you that Mr. Steller is not competent to be the leader of your prestigious Airline in many ways.

The ATR touched down at Male' international airport on 24th April 2007. I invite all readers to include in their comments how and when they estimate the ATR to start flying.

1. Will it happen because Mr. Gasim and Mr. Afeef pressure CAD? How long will it be if this is the case?

2. Will Mr. Steller smarten up and get all the necessary requirements complete? And ofcourse how long will it take in this case?

Lets just hope TMA doesn't become the laughing stock of the whole industry because the Managing Director wanted to show off and bring the 4 million dollar airplane before he had all the documentation and facilities in order. How much will TMA spend on this operation before it even gets airborne? Will the airline bounce back? Or will its greatest achivement be the cause of its own demise?

Latheef (What a big joke)

On a resent interview for TVM regarding the new ATR latheef was asked a question about the age of the aircraft. The answer latheef gave was the only thing in an aircraft which ages was the serial number and all the other parts of the A/C will be replaced when it expires . So according to Latheef the first A/C ever built in the world will be still flying cause its just the serial number which gets old............what a big joke.I agree latheef knows something about marketing or maybe he just pretends but for sure he doesn't no anything about aviation.......

Next time send mansoor cause he knows about Aviation or If latheef decides to go again the answer for that question is not the serial number.......................????????????

DCA

DCA is run by the local airlines , I say that because the local airline get what ever they want when ever they want, i mean like exemptions for aircraft maintenance, extention of pilot duties you name it the operators get it from dca. A few years back MAT whent to DCA to get approval to remove the existing life rafts and replace it with a more modern life saving equipment called the mobile phone which had a capacity of 20 passengers plus it had lot of new features which the old life rafts lacked like messaging, wi-fi , bluetooth etc hahaha. So the Dca did a study and approved it.................guys who are we kidding we all no the mobile phone doesn't work at all between the atolls we fly into or in the open seas so please let us no how much the operators paid to get this thing approved from dca....,and for the operators please don't do stupid things like this to put on a few more bags its peoples life's we are talking about........

THANK U.................

ATR ATR ATR !! Gannaane BAA??

ATR ATR ATR !! Gannaane BAA???

Many of you have seen the newly painted "blue and Yellow" bird parked at Male' international airport. Is it beautiful?? ofcourse. Does it make you happy?? YES!! So when are you going to fly it? Errr... "I donno!!??...?"

Thats the answer most of the floatplane pilots who have broken their backs for years and helped TMA come up with the money for the ATR. But if you ask one of he IAS pilots they will answer without hesitation.."in 3 months time!" Thats the resignation notice they have to give IAS if they dont want to pay for their ATPL's or their ratings.

How do IAS pilots get the jobs you ask?? Simple. Its has all been planned long before.

1. Fire Mansoor from IAS.
2. Hire Mansoor at TMA.
3. Mansoor calls his buddies back to TMA offerring them peanuts and coconut shells as pay.

Peanuts and coconut shells?? Yes Fathey. Yes Muja!! Thats what they are going to pay you compared to market rates. You will be paid less than a starting junior captain at TMA. exactly 14.77% less!!.."

"They will increase our pay after sometime..." Keep DREAMING!!! you think IAS is bad about bonding and stuff?? Bram Steller will make you sign even for your weekly haircuts... let alone your bond for your ratings.

Back to you floatplane "suckers".. To generate the money needed to fly the 1st ATR in the Maldives you will have to crack your backs for another 2 years. DAMN!!! and they are bringing 2 more ATRs before end of the year!! HAHAHA!! SUCKERS!!! If you think you are worth something lets all unite? What to do you ask?? Kee Kuranee Dho?? Keep posting to this blog!! I heard even DCA people read this. Tell them about how you operate the Twin Otter. Tell them about today, when it rained non - stop in the evening just before dark!

"Razee won't care.".. maybe, but the tour operators and the passengers flying with you will definitely think twice!

Dear TMA pilot machines and Staff, and noble upstairs people.

I would like to congratulate you on the arrival of the new tech log books.
As i know, these tech logs start fron 40001. i hope these new tech logs
will further increase TMA's revenue, will be an excellent addition to the line
of books you have. And i would like to take this oppotunity to remind you to bring
some ear plugs to TMA. if you could not, maybe some rolled up cotton buds will do.
And maybe get some spare parts too. I think spending money on good spare parts
is better then, spending ten times more money when something happens. Let me
give my support to captain fahud, on his campaign on grounding airplanes. on second
thoughts, i think fahud should buy a new nose. because, he always gets fuel smell in
any airplane he flies. Not to mention reverse never works and engine never spools up to
his expectations. And i would like to express my deepest condolences ( thauziyaa ) on
the loss of hakuraa contract. I was so sad, that i still could not, stop thinking how much
this would affect, bussiness of the GREATEST SEAPLANE COMPANY IN THE WORLD.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR KIND CO-OPERATION.

AND YOU ARE WELCOME TOOO....

HAISHAM CHIEF PILOT CAMPAIN.

VOTE FOR HAISHAM.

here are some of the things that haisham will do for all pilot if he gets elected.

  • 2 days off every week ( no pay )
  • No forcing, to work, only working to force.
  • inthi will be deputy, shah will be assistant deputy
  • Wake up calls for all pilots
  • Every pilot will get a fully furnished plot of land from Hulhumale'
  • Untouchable one million dollars, will still be untouchable
  • Fahud will have to do atleast 4 overnights a week.
  • Will always consult ishan before doing anything.
more to come later.

in the mean time. this potential chief pilot will have his CP debate..next week

I REFUSE!!

flight crew! flight crew! pilots! cabin crews!! what makes them so special? what about the rest of the staffs in the company? I am a flight crew of this company but i know for a fact that ground staff are equally important and special too. it is not only flight crew who dedicate themselves and go through sacrifices! i guess the ground staff stories have been in the background for so long it has been forgotten completely. To start off with just compare the salaries of the lowest paid co-pilot and the highest paid ground staff (except ofcourse the managers "or whatever" who are upstairs). I have no doubt that the copilot will be making atleast 25% more. what about the work they do you ask? yes I totally agree the copilot does safety sensitive and more professional work but just imagine how unfair it is for the ground staff who knows he can spend his whole life with TMA and his salary will never ever be more than the next guy who comes fresh out of flying school and starts with TMA as junior copilot. TMA ground staffs salary has always been described as the "lowest pay" at the whole airport. And most of the salary scales are more than 10 years old. why doesn't anybody ever notice the loaders and the drivers and the fuelers?? they certainly do HARD PHYSICAL work. maybe not professionally rated but are they paid what they are worth???? The company claims it will soon expand into Jet age but the ground staff are still surviving in the stone age!! Busy day tomorrow?? sure no problem we will bring out the technicians who were on the night shift last night on the 5 oclock boat next morning and make them load thousands of pounds of bags!! oh and also, tailor shop closed!! tailor has to help as well. but does latheef or mansoor or bram ever help with the bags?? or even receive one passenger when it is busy?? NO! its wierd isnt it. NAAAH!! they just dont care.

Just a finishing note to Bram; "PRACTICE WHAT YOU PREACH!" being the last person to to leave TMA at night doesnt prove that you are the hardest working employee! or do you even consider yourself to be an employee of TMA anymore?? i know for certain that latheef does not, cos he said it right to my face!

Im out!

DEAR ACTING CHIEF PILOT

Dear acting chief pilot,

Just imagine a scenario where people are forced to work.. That is called slavery.. Now I wonder whether when ishan
was made the acting chief pilot or "whatever" couldnt he have protested if he did not like it. Y is he working like a dog when
no one really appreciates it..Are u really that dumb or u just want to be filling the job just for the sake of others..Y dont u step down
and let some one like Haisham do the job..after all he wants it really bad just like u wanted i( Now that would be very funny)t.. who are u trying to fool!!!!! We all know you. werent you one of those guys who rendered ur own resignation when they tried to clip the holidays for locals.. where is ur fighting spirit now..y do u have to bow to Bram and Latheef and Manchu... all of whome joined much later..y dont u put aside the differences and work for a common goal.. I mean what have u really done after u became the so called acting chief. How many pilot meetings we had... Even our last pilot meeting was a joke. Dont let the management control us.. all of us joined this company to take it forward not to be praying for bram and latheef. Y do u have to be behind the scene.... if u want to say something to the management say it to their face..infront of everyone..dnt pretend to be the nice guy..U r one of the most experienced float captains and we all respected ur decisions.but not anymore...
PS. Haisham would u like the post of chief pilotlike how u were talking about it the other day?

DONT BLAME JUST ONE

Its good to see that there is a site where people can really talk about tma.
TMA as a whole is run by BRAM STELLAR.But he is not the culprit here. Its people whome he has put under him to run day to day actions.
take for instance MR Latheef. He thinks he can step on his fellow maldivians now that he holds a good position. maybe he worked for it but when u get the power u shud never abuse it.. there are many instances where he goes to the so called resorts taking with him girls who work at tma. he tells everyone they (the girls) should also get a chance to see the resorts after all its not only for the pilots to enjoy.. but DOES HE HAVE TO ACCOMPANY THEM?  then there are rumours that some girls even quit their jobs because Latheef using his powers wanted to have a fling with them.. I mean THERE IS NO SMOKE WITHOUT FIRE.. maybe he takes the girls cos Bram takes all the beautiful guys.
Then there is Ishan.. just like someone mentioned earlier everyone thought atleast the maldivians everyone thought he wud do a good job.. but he is much worse.. he even created partition system within the maldivians..His brother must be ashamed of him...wat to do only for personal good..what else cud be said.. Now ther are rumours maldivians are divided into two groups.. the good and the bad...i dont wanna mention names but its sad to know maldivians fighting each other..

ATR anybody???

How would you like to be an ATR pilot? Yes you say??? Great! You start tomorrow and your contract will look something like this:

1. Your name shall be here in after refferred to as "Alhu Kaleyge (slave)", the employee
Herein after the employer shall be reffered to as "God"
2. Alhu Kaleyge will work 6 days a week and on the 7th day you will be expected to stay overnight at a strange island.
3. During your stay at this mentioned island you shall not engage in any business whatsoever that may relax your mind or body.
4. Alhu Kaleyge will be fed via the LOWEST cost meals while your stay on the island. Should Alhu Kaleyge suffer from any food poisoning resulting from these meals you will be required to inform your superior 3 days in advance after which your plea will be processed and concluded that your actions were not upto company standards and it will be recorded in your personal file. Alhu Kaleyge will also be required to undergo a medical examination at his/her own cost.
5. You will be required to set aside all your personal emotions and feelings for the period of your contract. Your friends and family may not contact you by any means while you are on duty.

Finally your request will be declined citing the clause number 5 in this contract.
9. Either party may terminate this contract at anytime provided God agrees with it first.
10. Should God feel like it he may at anytime hang Alhu Kaleyge by his feet and bitch slap him/her.
11. Salary - To be continued

ATR, Jets whatever, How much money does the company have saved in to there account? Well, is that’s something that I have to worry about? Hello, yes ofcourse. Why the company is not upgrading or giving much attention to the 50 year old tin cans that they used to have now. Are they forgetting about these aircraft or what? There are some aircrafts that water leaks inside to the cabin on a rainy day and drips down to the passengers head or to there lap. Months ago, while the aircraft was taxing to the dock, hydraulic leaked inside to the cabin area and drips down to a passenger’s shirt and ruined his priceless shirt. (As we know, hydraulic is very perilous, if contacted to the skin, from rashes to itching will occur or even dangers). The thwarted passenger asked in return for a free fare but he was given $100. What this $100 means to him if he was hurt? (My God, lucky we are that he forgets to sue this place). From window covers coming out and warped seats that if a passenger sits, half of his or her ass will be resting nowhere. Well, it’s ok for Mr. Bram and Mr. Latheef as long as it can fly and carry thousand pounds of bags. Come on, you all are insured, no need to worry. Insured or Insulting? Is there any benefit that we used to get from that insuring thing? Don’t worry; one day Mr. Bram will get a nice thwack on his face from a passenger that will wake him up for good. And for Mr. Latheef, its better to stop coaching for the company netball team, and give a better look to these aircrafts, for the safety and comfort for the crew and the passengers onboard.

Fwd: Love realy happens...

Subject: Love realy happens...

Ok, u all have heard about office Love and the romance going behind the Boss
desk with one of his or her employee and the team working for the
Boss...This chemical love romance happen in every office, though u don't
know , it happens in your office too. Well, Once upon a time this love
thing was high in the air, here in Trans Maldivian Airways with Mr., Bram
Steller and one of his employee who worked here as Cabin Attendant. So
what's so astonishing about this couple? Trans Maldivian Airways is a
Seaplane Operating company as well as our neighbor, Maldivian Air taxi. The
work his hard and back breaking for a girl if she wishes to be as a flight
attendant. So the company hires strong and beefy and charming looking boys
as flight Attendants. Yes, I know what you are thinking. But this is
true... This flight attendant is not very amiable as u thing, from
punctuality to the grooming (ears are pierced and hair dyed in red in color,
like a rowdy) he was giving multiple letters of warnings and no improvement,
but for Mr. Bram he is the most excellent and his boy. Only a highly
experienced Cabin Attendants can only go in special flights like charter
flights. Mainly flights are charted by VIPs and sometimes this lover boy
gets these special flights and if the captain refuses because of his
personality and his grooming style and the captain will have a hard time
with Mr. Bram Steller and end up to the black list. Rumor says, Mr. Bram
used to invite this cutie to his apartment (don't know what they do over
there). These rumors are believed to be true, because there are eye witness
and this cutie tell about these to his friends. But sadly this relationship
became a candle in the wind and slowly starts to wilt. Nobody knew why or
what makes this to happen. To renew there relationship, Mr. Bram sends Mr.
Mansoor (FOM, the puppeteer ) with his cutie for an evening tea or what we
call, a coffee to talk about there relationship and how they can start a new
life again . Sadly, no improvements came, and because of his punctuality and
grooming he was terminated from Trans Maldivian Airways. But Mr. Bram
Steller is not heartrending about what happened (he buries that in the past,
Forever), because there is more and more charming boy's joining TMA, he will
find another good partner soon… (Still some of his time passing boys are
working in TMA).

A message to Mr. Bram Steller from the author,

"Honesty is a principle. Service is a principle. Love is a principle. Hard
work is a principle. Respect, gratitude, moderation, fairness, integrity,
loyalty and responsibility are principles. There are dozens and dozens more.
They are hard to identify. Just as a compass always points to true north,
hope your heart recognize true principles. Definitely Gay is not a
principle."

More gay stories to come….

Subject: Mansoor, the movie star!

Hey, guys I didn’t know Mr. Mansoor (puppeteer), was a movie star. But check
this. He was the Favorite characters (behind the camera) in the film, Lord
of the Rings. The Gollum, Hmmm. May be he was like this before.

What? Me? Worry?

Who do we think we are kidding? What a joke!!! TMA has always been short of pilots.. common knowledge. But have we ever been THIS SHORT????!! I certainly don't think so. Not for the last three years. Almost all pilots flying through their limits! I heard some guys will get "forced leave" once they reach 1000hrs for the year. Not a good thing now that the leave is unpaid.

I guess everybody expected it to be better with Ishan around, but he turned out to be helpless just like anybody who has ever stepped into the chief pilot's position.

What does the top management do to get a solution for this problem? Hire new pilots you say?? NAAAAH!! too expensive! We will just get an exemption from the "ever helpful" CAD Maldives for the pilots who are already over fatigued and work them extra!! I wonder how much CAD charge for these exemptions???

So no worries!
Till next time!

First Look

A rising sun looks beautiful on the horizon on a clear day. Some are anxious to get a photo of nature's beauty before its too late, while others just hold hands and watch the brightness of the sun takeover the darkness.

At first, TMA was just "next door neighbour" to Maldivian Air Taxi. But now TMA is known as "competetion". A dramatic change as I would believe. Nobody in Male' would identify "TMA" as an airline back then. They would ask if it is a construction company or supermarket. Now almost every youngster out of school wants to join the "TMA TEAM" (as Mr. Bram puts it). Some want to become cabin crew while others aspire to be pilots. There are even rumours about a lot of employees from MAT jumping the fence. TMA's future projects includes owning and operating a private business jet and also the 40 seater ATR-42 to compete with Island Aviation.

What was the reason behind this dramatic change in a few years? Was it money from new investors? Or just pure luck?

Well, fellow readers, it was neither money nor luck. It was a person. One single person who brought a spirit that all employees were bound to it. He had a vision and a mission. He is Mr. Bram Steller. The Managing Director of TMA who joined the company at a time when all the investors were ready to wash their hands off TMA. With unmatched dedication Mr. Bram has been able to make TMA's colors be recognized with pride. He delivered to the clients what they asked for and more. In a span of one year he managed to paint the whole fleet in TMA colors.

I refuse to believe the articles published by "Kee Kuranee Dho". I am an employee of TMA who has seen "the good the bad and the ugly", and Mr. Bram is certainly the good part of it.

Thanks

Return of the Jedi

Mr. Bram Steller, MD, TMA will be back in Male' on Sunday, 24th February 2007. He is presently visiting Pacific Coastal Aircraft Hangar in Australia where the latest addition to the TMA fleet, the ATR-42, is almost completing a C-Check after which it is scheduled to be painted in TMA colors. The colors which Mr. Steller handpicked ofcourse, just like he picked the former HR manager, "Captain" Tyronne Arulraj. How long did he last you ask?? Well just over 2 months which is good compared to his personal secretary, "Lady" Diana who only survived 4 working days.

This is the true story of the staff turnover "kulhivaru" that has been going on for the last 3 years. How many HR managers in the last 3 years? How many Chief Financial officers in 3 years? A better question would be what's the longest a chief pilot has ever lasted at TMA?

Where is the board of directors? Since Mr. Azad Shivdasani sold his share (so goes the story, but we all know what really happened) to the two Maldivian business tycoons; Champa Afeef and Burumaa Gasim, this company has become a really big personal pie where Mr. Steller can poke his finger into wherever he likes whenever he likes. No department within the company has any authorization to carry out any tasks without "prior approval from the MD" (something which Mr. Ranjit (CFO) and Mr. Mansoor (FOM) really enjoy), be it granting a medical leave to a subordinate or even sending a simple letter to a relevant authority.

With nobody watching over him, Mr. Steller is free to spend the investor's money at his will. The latest example would be the brand new VIP vehicle that was ordered to be painted in a single day and after almost all the maintenance employees spent a day and half without sleeping to do so, the vehicle has just been sitting in front of the hangar taking in all the dust and salt for almost 4 months now. It is yet to have a single kilometer on its log.

Well, that would be no big deal compared to million dollar airplanes parked on the dock 6 hours a day during a 12 hour operation. Why? Hello!!! No drivers, no pilots?!! Everyone witnessed a good example on this subject last Wednesday (21st Feb) when 2 passengers for Royal Island had to stay at the terminal for 3 hours with 4 airplanes parked on he dock and no pilots to fly them. The poor souls have our "hero" Mr. Mansoor (FOM) to thank when he opted to fly instead of the pilot who refused to do the flight as there was a threat of running out of daylight. This was OK for Mr. Mansoor who has a guardian angel over his shoulder. Wait!! That's not a guardian angel!!! OHHH! That's right. It's the puppet master. I can see the strings now.

Well friends, I would love to write more but I have to be on the 4.45AM boat because I just finished a 14hr duty day today. If you think you can continue this story please send your articles to flytma@gmail.com.

Cheers.
